Free CXB!!

Monday, November 7th, 2005

I just found out that Christopher X Brodeur was jailed. apparently Ben Smith of the Politicker got fed up with Christopher’s abrasive manner and filed some kind of charges against him. The city sent cops to arrest him and when he got to court his public defender didn’t even defend him at all. The judge denied him bail (!!??) and forced him to get a psychiatric evaluation. This is a total outrage! Even robbers and muggers get bail! Christopher may be a pain in the butt but he’s not dangerous and he’s not crazy. I’m trying to find out what can be done to help him out. Right now getting him a good lawyer would probably be the best thing. Know any good lawyers?

You can read Jessica Delfino’s account of the situation at her blog. If you can help CXB, email Jessica at jessdelfino@yahoo.com.

What is the Blog Party?

Thursday, June 2nd, 2005

After a sleepless night some things have come a little more into focus.

One is: What is The Blog Party? It is an Affinity Group interested in exploring the intersection of new media, arts, culture and politics. Ideally I would like to see it get organized on an ongoing basis to explore creating actions online and in the real world.

So I encourage you to sign up for the mailing list and keep posted. Eventually I’ll turn it into a discussion list, once we reach critical mass.

The Daily Gotham

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

Just a few posts ago I said I was looking for people to help write posts for this blog on specific issues. Well, Liza from Culturekitchen beat me to it. She just launched The Daily Gotham which is a “daily kos” style blog covering grassroots news and activism in NYC. Check it out.
